So it’s finally 100% officially confirmed that Beth and I are moving to Portland, OR this summer! Well, it looks to be more in about 2 weeks actually. Crazy. I’ve accepted a job out there for a consulting position with Ascentium, a big Microsoft partner and they needed me quickly so we’re pretty rushed to get everything taken care of and packed before we leave. Plus we still need to find a place to live out there. Any suggestions? We’re going to pack up the truck and leave May 21st and should roll into Portland on the 24th or 25th. I found that ABF Movers was the most affordable since they give you a 6×8x9 space in a semi and you can buy more space if needed. There are probably better options for shorter moves, but one thing I found is that moving cross country isn’t cheap. This way we don’t have to drive or haul our own U-Haul trailer through all the mountains. It’s going to be a long drive for sure, but Michelle and Doug have agreed to let us bring Zoe the chubby Yorkie out there with so we’ll have some company.
Well, at least I’ve taken care of the important things like decide on what HDTV I’ll be buying (Samsung 50″ LED DLP if anyone cares…) and the desk I want for all my computer crap.
It looks like we’re going to have a little going away party on the 20th so hopefully we’ll get one last chance to see everyone before we head out West! Of course, if anyone is ever out in that area or wants to come visit feel free to give us a call.
