So this week Facebook added some new features with their “News Feed” and “Mini-Feed” and half the people on Facebook are pissed about it. The idea that they’re upset about it is so fucking laughable I can’t believe it. Their biggest complaint? The new features remove some of their privacy. Seriously? You’re using Facebook to display a public profile of yourself. If you wanted privacy you wouldn’t be using the service at all. What a retarded complaint.
The best part is that the people who are doing the complaining are the people that spend every day on Facebook checking on other people and updating their profile. Now they’re upset that people can see what they changed without actually digging through everyone’s profile. Is that a bad thing? If anything, it should make your day more efficient. Maybe now you can go back to doing some real work during the daytime.
I’ve already seen a ton of various groups created denouncing the new features, but hey, in this world there is no bad press. These additions to Facebook have already created tons of buzz around college campuses and news sites and is only creating more interest in the site.
I’d like to reiterate that if you’re honestly concerned about privacy, don’t use Facebook in the first place. So maybe the tables have turned on you and you can’t stalk people anymore without being watched. Go outside and do something with your life instead of looking at new pictures of your drunk friend.
Obviously this only going to create more traffic per profile when someone sees you’ve recently changed to “Not In A Relationship” on their news feed and rushes to post a message on your wall. You should be happy. Maybe people will start reading those stupid quotes you added or they’ll notice you just added Brokeback Mountain in the middle of your favorite movies thinking no one would notice. Good work Facebook. You gave college kids something to talk about this week.
On a related note, when does the Facebook phase go away? I’m done with college and I can’t say I’ve really logged in or changed anything significant to my profile since then. On the other hand, I still have friends who check it on a daily basis. Yes, they graduated and have real jobs. At what point do they become the sleezeball college graduate stalking current college students? I feel like it’s immediately. Remember the college kids who would show up at high school parties and how everyone pointed and laughed at the losers who came back? That’s what you should do to college graduates still using Facebook. They’re losers. Make fun of them.
OMG I’m gay and I suck nuts.
